RENEWABLE ENERGY CERTIFICATES
(Note: REC’s are otherwise called CARBON-CREDITS; and otherwise called “GREEN-TAGS”.)
Renewable Energy Certificates offset the carbon-emissions produced by the fossil-fuel generated electricity used by any household or business.
...considering that the average retail REC is sold at up to $300+ per REC in some locations; you can be assured that Birdnecklace Renewable Energy Certificates (REC's) are provided at wholesale costs, even to retail customers, providing further ability to reduce or eliminate individual business or household carbon-emissions.
There is growing demand for electrical energy, to operate technology, and to maintain our households. The conventional way of producing electricity has been and continues to be the burning of coal, gas, or other "fossil" fuels to run utility scale generators, producing the power we need. However, the carbon-emissions produced by this method of generating electricity contributes to recognized negative impacts upon the global environment, and global warming; creating a situation where each house-hold and business, using electricity generated in this way, also contributes to these environmental impacts. In a changing world, where demand for energy is rising, and there is an increasing need to eliminate our carbon-emissions, it's important that we continue to innovate ways to take action and eliminate the emissions outputs from our own energy uses. Birdnecklace Renewable Energy Certificates provides a way to do just that, by eliminating up to 100% of the carbon-emissions emitted from your electricity use.
What are "REC's?" Renewable Energy Certificates (REC's) are electronic certificates which "certify" that a certain amount of electricity has been or will be produced by methods that emit less or no carbon-emissions into the environment, as opposed to conventional fossil-fuel methods (including coal, natural gas, or others). These renewable methods are derived from sources including: wind, solar, geo-thermal, bio-fuels, as well as other renewable sources. Currently, Birdnecklace Renewable Energy is developing sources of utility scale electricity mainly derived from wind; and in the near future from bio-fuel and Geothermal sources as well.
One REC represents the renewable generation of 1,000kWh of electricity (1,000 kilo-watt-hours), or in other words 1MWh (1 mega-watt-hour). The average American home uses approximately 12MWh of electricity per year (that's on average 12,000 tons of carbon-emissions if the electricity is produced using coal-fire or other fossil-fuels). In this case, 12 REC's purchased by a household would certify that the household has offset 100% of their carbon-emissions for a year through their purchase of "Green" renewable wind energy, proven and transferable by the REC. The renewable energy projects operated by Birdnecklace Renewable Energy will produce those 12MWh of electricity to be consumed by the local and/or national electrical grid, and the result is that those 12MWh of electricity will not be otherwise produced by coal-fire plants or other polluting sources.
REC's are purchased... :
• To reduce the environmental impact of electricity use;
• To encourage renewable energy development;
• To add new resources to the energy mix; and
• To conserve finite resources of current energy sources.
Wind energy in particular is an especially good choice when buying green power for several reasons. It is one of the cheapest and cleanest renewable energy sources available with no air pollution, and can also provide economic benefits to rural communities.
Are Renewable Energy Certificates more expensive? No. Purchasing REC's in addition to the commodity electricity already consumed by a household or business is cost efficient when considering all of the costs of "conventionally" generated electricity. Using fossil-fuels such as coal fired plants, etc., does not take into account the costs of acid rain, air pollution, and their affects upon the community and the world; this deduction of costs makes conventional energy seem less expensive. Wind energy REC's produce no air pollution or acid rain, also, as the industry grows and specifically this company grows, economies of scale will enhance the price competitiveness of renewable energy. However, Birdnecklace REC's are offered at wholesale cost to even retail consumers, making Birdnecklace REC's more price competitive with environment polluting sources, and even competing renewable producing competitors.
How to buy green power One way is to invest in smaller consumer scale wind turbines, have them installed at your property, and connect them to home or business for direct use. If this is not possible, then the reasonable and effective alternative is to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates to ensure that a certain amount of renewable power is generated on your behalf. This allows anyone at any location to purchase the renewable benefits of wind energy (or any renewable energy) through certified certificates.
Your utility provider may also provide a service offering REC's, which would be offered separate from your actual energy bill. Either option of your utility provider (if they offer a program) or Birdnecklace Renewable Energy Certificates - will both provide the same service and benefits to your chosen renewable energy use. REC's are also known as a "tradable renewable certificate," or, more commonly, a "green tag." However, again, Birdnecklace REC's are offered at wholesale cost to even retail customers; this is something to consider when choosing a REC's provider.
Renewable Energy Certificates offset pollution emitting electricity The actual physical electrify that comes into your home is typically derived from a local power-plant. Some "wind" generated electricity may actually and physically make it to your home or business because all electricity is added to a "pool" of electricity which is distributed along a path of lease resistance to customers. When a customer purchases REC's they are adding renewable clean energy to the pool, however, the certificates are certification that one's own home or business is offset by the purchased amount of REC's.
Getting the benefit Birdnecklace Renewable Energy Certificates, when delivered, will be certified and accounted for by the 'Midwest Renewable Energy Tracking System'; this is an official independent body which will monitor and inspect that the energy produced is actually from a renewable energy source, and will issue an unique electronic certificate for each 1MWh of electricity produced. Because of this official certification and independent monitoring and issuance of certificates, Birdnecklace Renewable Energy Certificates are qualified for markets or states (or other jurisdictions appointing the MRETS organization) which have in place legal mandates for businesses or entities to offset their electricity-use with REC's can utilize Birdnecklace Renewable Energy Certificates to meet the these mandates as provided by the 'Midwest Renewable Energy Tracking System' or MRETS.
